Scherzo for Strings

Full Orchestra
String Orchestra
Wind Ensemble
Vocal
Chamber
Solo Instrumental

This cute and short piece hails from my first string symphony, one of my earliest compositions, written while I was in high school. It is in a fast 6/8 time with bouncy repeated notes. Every section gets a chance to take the lead as the music rockets forward. In the middle section, D major becomes d minor and the tempo slows suddenly. Replacing the bouncy scherzo theme are flowing melodies and lush harmonies. Following classical tradition, the scherzo returns in an abridged recapitulation.

Scherzo is published by Alfred Music. If you would like to purchase it, please visit its Alfred website.
